PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correctly detect a resistance value of a writing element of a thin film magnetic head by canceling the resistance of electric wiring from the thin film magnetic head to a drive circuit and thereby to optimize a writing current to a magnetic disk. SOLUTION: A temperature compensation line 35 has a resistance characteristic which can be treated alike flexible wiring FPC which is electric wiring from a thin film magnetic head 2 to a drive circuit 1. A temperature detection circuit 33 detects resistance values of a writing element 21 and temperature compensation wiring 35, and acquires a temperature signal St obtained by correcting the resistance values of the writing element 21 and the flexible wiring FPC with the resistance value of the temperature compensation wiring 35.
