PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact gate valve being light in weight and having excellent operation property without requiring power by electricity and compressed air. SOLUTION: This gate valve is provided with a wall body 10 having an opening part 8 surrounded by a valve seat, a valve element 12 for opening and closing the opening part 8 by abutting on/leaving the valve seat 6, a basic body 5 capable of advancing and retracting in substantially parallel direction with the opening part 8, a connection mechanism 20 for connecting the valve element 12 and the basic body 5 mutually so as to displace, an energizing force providing member 26 for providing energizing force for positioning the valve element in a valve opened condition, a stopper 28 for regulating travel of the valve element in the direction of advance of the basic body, and a fixing means 32 for fixing the basic body 5 to a second wall body 30 which is not relatively displaced for the wall body 10.
