PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recorder having a device for transmitting driving force for supplying a recording medium capable of easily switching the transmission of the driving force of a driving means in a short time to a supply means from a carrying means. SOLUTION: The recording medium is supplied, and when carrying the supplied recording medium, when switching and transmitting the driving force for carrying for supply, switching operation is performed only by the combination of reciprocal driving force for carrying. Thus, when conventionally switching the transmission of the driving force to the supply side from the carrying side, there was the necessity for moving a carriage up to the end from the end of a device body at a maximum, and in this invention, its necessity is eliminated since switching is performed only by the combination of the reciprocal driving force, and processing time of the switching can be largely shortened.
