PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an upright type electric cleaner in which a cleaner body is not easily turned and inclined during cleaning using an extension suction pipe. SOLUTION: The upright type electric cleaner comprising a cleaner body provided with a motor-driven blower and a dust collecting means, a suction body provided on the lower part of the cleaner body, a handle provided on the upper part of the cleaner body and the freely extensible and contractible extension suction pipe provided on the distal end of a suction hose extended from the cleaner body, wherein the suction body comprises a suction port body part provided with a suction port part and a dust ventilation connection pipe part connected to the cleaner body, and the suction port body part and the dust ventilation connection pipe part are connected freely turnably so as to be bent. In the upright type cleaner, the suction body is provided with a turning suppressing means for suppressing the cleaner body from falling down to the rear side in the state of positioning the cleaner body above the suction body.
