PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a brake device capable of coping with a rail large in height dimension and also capable of increasing a life. SOLUTION: This brake device installed on the rail 10 and braking a runner 20 guided by the rail comprises a base part 100 mounted on the upper surface of the rail 10 and a leaf spring 200 having a base end part 210 slidably mounted on the base part 100. The tip part 220 of the leaf spring 200 is a plate-like body opened at its tip and curved backward. The tip of the plate spring is energized and brought into contact with the runner to brake the runner 20. The base part 100 comprises a projected part 120 positioned on a moving road for the base end part 210 of the leaf spring 200 and over which the base end part can ride by slidable movement and a contact stop part 130 on which the opened end part of the tip end part of the leaf spring displaced by the energization and contact is allowed to abut.
