PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toner for textile printing having good charging characteristics, good dispersibility and excellent color property and giving high image density in an electrophotographic textile printing method, and to provide a textile printing method. SOLUTION: In the electrophotographic textile printing method in which toner particles prepared by dispersing a colorant in a carrier liquid are printed on cloth by an electrophotographic system, the magenta toner for textile printing containing a dye represented by formula (1) as a colorant is used. In the formula, R<SB>1</SB>and R<SB>2</SB>are each H or C<SB>n</SB>H<SB>2n+1</SB>and R<SB>3</SB>is C<SB>n</SB>H<SB>2n</SB>COOC<SB>n</SB>H<SB>2n+1</SB>or SO<SB>2</SB>NHC<SB>n</SB>H<SB>2m</SB>H<SB>2m+1</SB>.
