METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR DISSOLVING GLASS MATERIAL AND GLASS PRODUCTION APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain high-quality glass with extremely few defect such as undissolved silica sand and heterogeneous composition through a short dissolving time, and to realize reduction of energy consumption and miniaturization of production facilities.

SOLUTION: A method for dissolving a glass material containing a carbonate comprises a step wherein a glass material mixture is prepared by molding a portion or all of the glass material into particles, a step wherein the glass material mixture is passed through a heated gaseous phase atmosphere to be heated to a temperature equal to or higher than the decomposition reaction temperature of the carbonate and a step wherein the heated glass material mixture is dropped and dissolved on top of glass melt. An apparatus for dissolving the glass material and a glass production apparatus are also provided.
