PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and efficiently inspect defects existing in an inspected portion, such as a mouth part, of a transparent container, with high flow-system workability, without being affected in picture image analysis by projection parts, such as a screw thread part or flange part and by recess parts, such as bent slots, which exist. SOLUTION: In this method, light is projected from a rear diffused light source 2 toward the inspected portion 1a of the transparent container 1, to cause its transmitted light to enter a camera 10 at the front and a digitized image of the camera is analyzed, to inspect a defect existing in the inspected portion 1a.
