PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the following problem; although fragments in different tracks can have the same fragment number, each fragment number can be generated only once in each track. SOLUTION: The tape driver relating to this invention is at least one rotary head for reading a track of a tape medium, and comprises at least one rotary head in which the track includes two or more fragments and each fragment in the track has an identifier, and a position indication device for providing a signal showing a rotational position of of the rotary head when one of the fragments is read from the tape medium, and a combination of the signal and one identifier among the fragments clearly discriminates one fragment among the fragments in the track.
