LIGHT EMITTING DEVICE, IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS, DISPLAY, AND DRIVING METHOD FOR LIGHT EMITTING ELEMENT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emitting device in which a light quantity change due to the temperature of light emitting elements is corrected with a simple configuration without provision of a temperature detecting element.

SOLUTION: The light emitting device has one or a plurality of the light emitting elements, and causes the light emitting elements to emit light based on input data. The device includes: the light emitting element for light quantity detection which is not rendered for the intrinsic use and is used exclusively for light quantity detection; a driving means for driving the light emitting element and the light emitting element for the light quantity detection by a prescribed driving system; a light quantity detecting means for detecting the light quantity of the light emitting element for light quantity detection; and a correction means which corrects the driving conditions of the light emitting element by the driving means so as to suppress the light quantity change of the light emitting element based on the light quantity of the light emitting element for the light quantity detection.
