<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metal-containing thiol compound useful as a raw material of an optical product having a high refractive index and Abbe's number, and a method for producing the same in a good efficiency. <P>SOLUTION: This metal-containing thiol compound is expressed by general formula (1): M(R<SB>1</SB>)<SB>n</SB>(S-R<SB>2</SB>-SH)<SB>4-n</SB>[wherein, M is a silicon, germanium, tin, zirconium or titanium atom; R<SB>1</SB>, R<SB>2</SB>are each independently a 1-6C alkane residue, a 4-7C cycloalkane residue, a 3-7 heterocyclic compound residue of which hetero atom is O, N or S, or a 6-10C aromatic compound residue and each of the residues may have a substituent; and (n) is 0-3 integer]. The method for producing the metal-containing thiol compound expressed by the general formula (1) is provided by reacting a halogenated metal compound expressed by general formula: M(R<SB>1</SB>)<SB>n</SB>X<SB>4-n</SB>[wherein, X is a halogen atom] with a dithiol compound expressed by general formula: R<SB>2</SB>(SH)<SB>2</SB>. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
