<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new aluminum nitride powder from which an aluminum nitride sintered compact having high fracture toughness, high thermal conductivity and bending strength can be obtained, and a method for producing the same. <P>SOLUTION: The aluminum nitride powder is obtained by a reductive nitriding process, has a particle size distribution that (1) the content of the primary particles having diameters of ≥0.1 to <1 μm is 5-85 mass%, (2) the content of the primary particles having diameters of ≥1 to <5 μm is 0-40 mass%, and (3) the content of the primary particles having diameters of ≥5 to ≤10 μm is 15-95 mass% (wherein, the total content of the particles (1)-(3) is 100 mass%), and is characterized in that the surface of each particle is oxidized so that the oxygen content becomes 0.4-1.3 mass%. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
