<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a red effect pigment which has improved optical natures, has an especially pure red hue, does not exhibit defects on applications, and can universally used in wide range applications. <P>SOLUTION: This strongly colored red effect pigment contains iron oxide-coated SiO<SB>2</SB>flakes having a total thickness not exceeding≤500 nm (+/-30 nm). A method for producing the effect pigment comprises selecting the thicknesses of SiO<SB>2</SB>flakes and iron oxide layers so that the total thickness does not exceed 500 nm(+/-30 nm), and then coating the SiO<SB>2</SB>flakes with iron oxide. The pigment is used for cosmetics, paints, coatings, plastics, films, security printing, security characteristics and identification cards on documents, coloration of seeds, coloration of foods, coating of medicines, and production of pigment compositions and dry preparations. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
