PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading apparatus capable of generating appreciation image reference data with the quality equal to and higher than the quality of image data obtained by an imaging apparatus and protecting information associated with production of the appreciation image reference data. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus 100 generates scene reference raw data depending on the characteristic of the imaging apparatus through imaging, a reproduction auxiliary data generating section 12 applies optimal image processing to the scene reference raw data for generating an appreciation image on an output medium to produce a reproduction auxiliary data in the case of generating the appreciation image reference data, a coding/authentication information setting section 21 sets authentication information (password) for authenticating use of the reproduction auxiliary data, and a header information processing section 8 attaches the reproduction auxiliary data and its authentication information to a file header (header area) of the scene reference raw data to produce an attached data file and records the attached data file to a recording medium of a storage device 9.
