PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the decorative effect, convenience and versatility of an illumination light source by applying various colors to the light source. SOLUTION: The coating material for illumination decoration is a transparent or translucent coating to be applied to the surface of a light source covered with glass or plastics and necessitating a power source such as fairy lamp, fluorescent lamp and LED or to the surface of a rope light formed by holding multiple light sources connected to a power source into a tube made of a vinyl chloride resin. The coating contains 96.9-65 wt.% alcohol, 3-30 wt.% resin soluble in the alcohol and 0.1-5.0 wt.% colorant. The resin has a 100% modulus of≥8 MPa and≤14 MPa and an elongation of≥300% and≤600%.
