PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubber composition for base tread in which low fuel cost property of automobiles is improved. SOLUTION: The rubber composition for base tread is composed of a rubber component containing 15-80 wt.% butadiene rubber obtained by copolymerizing a compound represented by formula 1 (wherein R<SP>1</SP>is an amino group, an alkoxy group, a silyloxy group, an acetal group, a carboxyl group, a mercapto group or a derivative thereof).
