Pen (10) has refill cartridge (18) which on pushing a knob (32) at the end of the pen's casing (12) and using a spring can protrude from the casing. The switching and retaining of the refill is activated using an operating mechanism, which has a fixed guide part (22) with slithole (24) running along the casing into which the knob is guided along. Between the end of the knob and the end of the refill away from the writing tip (16) a catch piece (38) is supported at a preset angle in the hole.
