<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color identification device which can identify the color of an object area included in a color image in accordance with an illumination light even if the illumination light changes. <P>SOLUTION: The color identification device 1 comprises; a color template storage means 7 which stores an object candidate color characteristic quantity, which becomes a characteristic quantity of color in an object area, and a background candidate color characteristic quantity, which becomes a characteristic quantity of color in a background area, in association with a category identifier showing the kinds of color; an object area cutting-out means 3 which cuts out the object area, as an object area image, from an input image; a background area cutting-out means 4 which cuts out the background area as a background area image; and a color specifying means 8 which specifies color in the object area by selecting a category identifier corresponding to the object area image from the color template storage means 7, based on the difference between the background candidate color characteristic quantity and the characteristic quantity of the color of the background image. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
