<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display element using liquid crystal micro lenses. <P>SOLUTION: The display element 100 includes: a display medium layer 1; a first substrate 2 disposed on the observer's side of the display medium layer 1; and a second substrate 3 disposed so as to be opposite to the first substrate 2 via the display medium layer 1. The display element 100 further includes a plurality of pixels. The pixel has: a plurality of electrodes 5a, 5b to apply voltage to the display medium layer 1; and a light absorption layer 6 and a light diffusion layer 7 formed on the display medium layer 1 side of the second substrate 3. A black displaying state in which light incident from the first substrate 2 side is condensed to the light absorption layer 6, and a white displaying state in which the light incident from the first substrate 2 side is condensed to the light diffusion layer 7 are switched to each other corresponding to the voltage applied to the display medium layer 1. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
