NEW POLYESTER-BASED PLASTIC-DECOMPOSING BACTERIUM

摘要

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new microorganism, a method for decomposing a plastic by a biological treating method by using the microorganism, and a method for recovering a monomer.

SOLUTION: This microorganism belonging to the genus Leptothrix and having a capacity of decomposing a plastic especially a solid plastic having an ester bond in its molecular structure is provided, and also the method for decomposing the plastic material by using the microorganism belonging to the genus Leptothrix or the method for recovering the monomer is provided. The microorganism has the capacity of decomposing the plastic even under a rich nutritious condition and also has a clear substrate specificity. Its application for a chemical recycle by using an enzyme is expected.
