PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical scanner and an image forming apparatus that can maintain image quality in a superior condition, by reducing changes in the attitude of other optical elements and a laser device in the housing of the optical scanner through heat generation or the like of an optical deflector motor, with a very low-priced means and mechanism, without using for example a high-cost detecter or an actuator that controls the mechanism, by eliminating the waiting time of the user, and by preventing generation of positional deviations or color shifts. SOLUTION: The optical scanner is provided with an expanding/contracting member 209 that directly or indirectly comes in contact with a mirror 206, whose attitude varies during the use of the optical scanner and that expands/contracts through changes in the temperature to make change in the attitude of the mirror 206 reduced.
