PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fiber for mascara, a method for producing the fiber for mascara, a mascara cosmetic and a method for producing the mascara cosmetic. SOLUTION: The fiber for mascara is a short fiber having a fiber length of 0.1-5.0 mm and a single fiber fineness of 0.001-5.0 dtex and is rounded at both tip ends. A soluble component of a splittable conjugate fiber is subjected to splittable treatment, the fiber is cut to a prescribed length and the cut fiber is split to fine fibers. As an alternative, a single-component fiber having a single fiber fineness of 0.001-5.0 dtex is cut to a prescribed fiber bundle length and a part of both end parts of the short fibers in the cut fiber bundle are rounded by dissolution. The mascara cosmetic contains 1-10 wt.% fiber for mascara. The method for the production of the mascara cosmetic comprises the use of the fiber for mascara as a component. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
