PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a linear power amplifier in which a high distortion correction amount can be attained while suppressing a secular change and a temperature variation, and to provide a setting method of its digital predistorter. SOLUTION: A composite signal of a digital pilot signal and a digital transmission signal is added, from a digital predistorter (20), with an odd order distortion by a power series model to produce a signal added with a predistortion which is then converted through a digital/analog converter (31) into an analog signal and then the analog signal is up-converted to a transmission frequency band at a frequency up-convert section (33) and outputted while being power amplified by a power amplifier (37). A pilot signal is extracted from a transmission signal subjected to power amplification and down-conversion, and the digital predistorter is controlled to decrease its odd order distortion component while paying attention to a predetermined pilot signal of odd order distortion.
