PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a matter that when a conventional high frequency signal receiver is employed in an apparatus being mounted on an automobile having a large temperature variation width, input signal level of a mixer decreases under high temperature environment and increases under low temperature to cause distortion of the mixer. SOLUTION: The high frequency signal receiver comprises a detector 34 being supplied with the output from a local oscillator 27, and a gain control section 35 inserted between the output of the detector 34 and an amplifying section 28 wherein the gain control section 35 controls the amplifying section 28 in the direction for increasing the gain when a signal level detected by the detector 34 is lower than a predetermined level. Since the detector 34 detects the actual level of a signal outputted from the local oscillator 27 and the gain of the amplifying section 28 is controlled if that output level is low, input level to a mixer is stabilized.
