PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk device in which an optical head can be accurately moved by suppressing a variation in a load applied to a drive gear without complicating the manufacturing process of the optical disk device and increasing the manufacturing cost thereof. SOLUTION: The optical disk device is provided with a drive gear 50, a first rack 110 fixed to the optical head 20, and a second rack 120 movable relatively to the first rack. Drive of the optical head is performed in a double rack region in which both of the first rack and the second rack engage with the drive gear, elevation etc. of a turn table 32 is performed in a single rack region in which only the second rack engages with the drive gear. In the single rack region, when the second rack is in the prescribed region, the second rack moves the optical head through the first rack. In a switching part where the prescribed region switches to the double rack region in the single rack region, at least one tooth of the first rack is cut along the tooth plane.
