PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To further secure fixation between a cylinder block and a crankcase and suppress their relative vibration. SOLUTION: In this variable compression ratio internal combustion engine, by making the crankcase 4 and the cylinder block 3 relatively approach to or separate from each other, a compression ratio is changed. An inclined face 4b is provided in the upper side of a portion 4a of the crankcase 4, and a fitting member 15 is provided.
