The method involves setting the sensor signals from the detection areas (5-7) of different sensors (2-4) on a surrounding area, with respect to each other for determining the operability of a sensor arrangement. The sensor signals include the determination of the number of measuring events in the specific surrounding area. The surrounding area is not completely detected by the concerned sensors. An independent claim is also included for a sensor arrangement with an evaluation unit, in a motor vehicle.
