System and method for licensing of functionalities in a communication terminal devices

The method involves selecting a functionality of a telecommunication terminal and activating the functionality to determine characteristics of the functionality. A license management server is activated to input the characteristics in a license database. The selected functionality is released based on the input characteristics and the logging of the license relevant usage of the functionality is performed outside the terminal. An independent claim is also included for a telecommunication system for licensing functionalities of a telecommunication terminal.
