Process for preventing pollution owing to an eventual leak of oil contained in an electric cable

The method involves injecting a liquid e.g. water, in an unused electric cable of an electric power cable section (10) at one of ends (16, 18) of the section, from one of end chambers (20, 22). The liquid is injected in the cable continuously. The cable is rinsed by utilizing the liquid so as to displace the fluid oil outside the cable. The liquid is collected at the other end of the section.
