A ship's hull comprises fore and aft sections 1 and 2 hinged together about an axis transverse to the hull, said axis being at or near the middle of the depth of the hull and the confronting ends of the sections having semi-cylindrical projections and recesses complementary thereto. As shown, the sections 1, 2 are hinged about shafts 3, 4 rotatably engaged in shaft tubes 9, 10, 11 and 11, 12, 13 respectively. The diameters of the recesses may be larger than that of the corresponding projections there being a radial gap (Figs. 2, 3 or 4, not shown) between the end faces. |
