A pallet consisting of a load platform 2 supported on channel members 8, 9 has a base 7 which extends horizontally between the lower edges of the channel members and obliquely upward between the channels and the platform edges parallel thereto. The platform 2 is a flat plate reinforced on its underside by a lattice of U-section members 3. To the latter are secured the channels 8, 9 and the base 7 has its oblique portions 18, 19 secured to channels 4, Fig. 3, which are in turn secured to the platform 2 at 5. The walls 11 of the channels are reinforced by struts 15. The base may be apertured and, in particular, apertures in the oblique portions 18, 19 thereof may communicate with further channels perpendicular to those shown, making the pallet four-way. In the latter case, the base has oblique portions fitted to the other pair of edges also. The base may be continuous or in the form of strips and the apertures 23 in the oblique portions formed by bending up material such as 27, Fig. 3, which material at least at the pallet edges (as at 24<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 1) is used as additional reinforcing support for the wing portions of the platform 2. The pallet may be of plastic, e.g. synthetic resin.
