A bag 1, for use in treating burns, which is made of gas-impermeable material, e.g. polythene or polystyrene, has an opening 3 for receiving a body part. A strip 4 of gas-permeable material, e.g. cotton gauze or expanded plastic such as polyvinyl chloride, is disposed in the opening and a draw string 5 is located between the strip and the bag for tightening the strip and the bag against the body in use. Additional strips 6, 7 of gaspermeable material may be inserted in the body of the bag. The permeable material permits limited ventilation of the bag during use.
