PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To cope with polishing of grooves of all the dimensional shapes at low cost by performing mirror finished surface polishing for a groove part of a quartz glass rod with groove by moving either one or both of a fixing means on/to which the quartz glass rod with groove is mounted and fixed and a brush means for polishing opposed to this fixing means. SOLUTION: A shaft 20 of a polishing brush 22 is connected with a motor for rotating brush 24 and a motor for moving brush 30 is connected with one end side of a pole screw 26 arranged side by side with a rail for moving brush 16b. A quartz glass rod fixing means 34 is inclined to the polishing brush 22 by a prescribed angle by an angle adjusting mechanism. By rotating the motor for rotating brush 24 and the motor for moving brush 30 in this state, the polishing brush 22 is rotated and is moved along rails for moving brush 16a, 16b. Thus, a groove part of the quartz glass rod 36 on the quartz glass rod fixing base 34 is polished by the polishing brush 22. The polishing brush 22 may be inclined. |
