Procedure for evaluating the performance of an automobile vehicle battery

The method involves evaluating a rotation speed (VALT) of an alternator starter during a time period, where the speed represents an internal resistance of a battery. A wear state variable (VU) of the battery is established based on an average speed of the speed (VALT). The variable is compared with a nominal state variable (VN) to evaluate the battery capacity. A control signal representing the evaluation is sent to a management unit. An independent claim is also included for a device of evaluating capacity of a battery of a motor vehicle to respond to a determined functioning state.
