[Also in Divisions B4 and H2] A tool for crimping a connector 32 to a coaxial cable 31 comprises a block 2 having spring- pressed radial pins 8, 9 operated by a cam surface 13 on a casing B to crimp the end 40 of the connector to the central conductor of the cable, and a bevel-closing collet the stepped jaws 24 of which crimp the rear part 43 of the connectorferrule to the cable-insulation and the front part 42 to the outer, braided conductor. The block may be pivoted at 3 to operating handles H which are linked at 19 to the casing B, so that when the handles are separated, Fig. 3 (not shown), the casing is moved along the block 2 to allow withdrawal of the pins 8, 9 and expansion of the jaws 24, by means of spacing springs 27. A bevel-closing ring CS for the jaws is screwthreaded to the end of the casing. A ratchet assembly 30, Fig. 1 (not shown), between the handles H ensures that a crimping operation is completed before the handles can be opened. A stop pin 11 passing through the block 2 engages the casing on completion of a crimping operation. In a modification for operation by fluid pressure, Fig. 6 (not shown), the block R<SP>1</SP> has a screw-threaded spigot 44 for attachment to a stand 46, and the casing B<SP>1</SP> with the cam surface and bevel-closing ring CS<SP>1</SP> is moved along the block against a return spring 56 by an annular piston 53 in a cylinder 49. Admission of fluid to the cylinder is controlled by a sensing device 60 operated by the end of the connector. In a further bench construction, Fig. 7 (not shown), the black R<SP>11</SP> is moved by a piston 66 and the casing B<SP>11</SP> is stationary.
