Dyeing process for polymers

Shaped articles of polyolefins, especially of polypropylene or polyisobutylene, are dyed at an elevated temperature with an aqueous preparation containing a dye of formula wherein X is alkyl, preferably C1-5, or Cl or Br. The polymer to be dyed contains e.g. Ni, Cr, Co or Al in the form of catalyst residues and/or stabilisers. The term "shaped articles" includes filaments, fibres, yarns, slubbing and tops, nonwoven and woven fabrics, knitted goods, films, foil and tubing.
