Container (10) for storing and displaying an object is provided which includ es a first base member (12) having a transparent area (18) located such that an object to be placed within the container is visibl e through the transparent area when the container is in a closed position. The container also includes a second base member (14) and a hinge (16) interconnecting the first and second base members. The first base member is movable with respect to the second base member between a closed position in which the peripheral edges (20, 22) are releasably latchable and an open position in which the base members are at least partially spaced from each other. The closed position defines a hollow interior space for receiving an object to be placed therein .
