Improved multilayer video screen

A display device comprises at least two display layers (7, 9) which overlap at least in part. At least one of the display layers has a dissimilar configuration to the other display layer such that moiré interference is reduced. The dissimilar configuration can be tessellated pixel patterns optionally with dissimilar sub-pixel patterns.
