PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus, an image processing method, and an image processing program capable of carrying out proper image processing by taking into account ease of viewing.

SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus 100 includes: a CCD 102 for acquiring image data of an original on which images are laid out; a characteristic analysis circuit 108 for analyzing the characteristic of the images on the basis of the image data acquired by the CCD 102; a region separation circuit 110 for configuring an image region by each characteristic of the image obtained by the characteristic analysis circuit 108; an overlap discrimination circuit 114 for discriminating overlapped regions of the image regions configured by the region separation circuit 110; and a second post-stage image processing circuit 118 for applying image processing in response to the characteristic of the image corresponding to the overlapped region to the image data in the overlapped region discriminated by the discrimination circuit 114.
