<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a card connector in which ESD (electrostatic discharge) to a circuit on a circuit board is prevented and the connector can be installed on the circuit board at low cost and easily by preventing contact of a human body with a circuit terminal exposed in the vicinity of an insertion port of a memory card in the card connector. <P>SOLUTION: The card connector comprises a case 1 fixed on the circuit board 4, a circuit terminal 2 supported in the vicinity of an opening 1d of the case 1, and a protection plate 3 fixed on the circuit board 4. The circuit terminal 2 is connected to a circuit 4a on the circuit board 4 with one end and the other end extends on the spacing 1c side for housing the card 5. The protection plate 3 has a sheet metal structure of cross-sectionally L-shape and is arranged so as to cover the exposed portion of the circuit terminal 2 in the vicinity of the opening 1d, and is connected to a ground potential. A human body charged with static electricity contacts the protection plate 3 at the time of insertion of the card 5 and discharges, and thus does not touch the circuit terminal 2. Thereby, the ESD to the circuit 4a on the circuit board 4 can be prevented even if it does not have a protection circuit such as a diode. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
