PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an emulsion for mat clear top coating giving a coating film having excellent mechanical strength, solvent resistance, staining resistance and transparency and suppressed gloss, a coating composition for mat clear top coating and a coated article having a coating film made of the coating composition. SOLUTION: The emulsion for mat clear top coating is produced by polymerizing an unsaturated monomer (II) in an emulsion (A) obtained by the emulsion polymerization of an unsaturated monomer (I) in the presence of an addition cleavage-type chain transfer agent. The amount of the addition cleavage-type chain transfer agent is 0.5-2.5 pts.mass based on 100 pts.mass of the unsaturated monomer (I), the amount of the unsaturated monomer (I) and that of the unsaturated monomer (II) in the total unsaturated monomer are 10-30 mass% and 90-70 mass%, respectively, the Tg of the polymer produced from the unsaturated monomer (I) is 20-150°C and the Tg of the polymer produced from the unsaturated monomer (II) is -70 to +10°C.
