PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a fatty acid alkyl ester in high efficiency and purity even from a stock oil containing free fatty acids. SOLUTION: The method for the production of a fatty acid alkyl ester comprises a step to form a reaction product by the esterification reaction of a stock oil containing free fatty acids with an alcohol, and a step to purify the reaction product.
