PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a handrail driving device of a passenger conveyor capable of detecting the moving speed of a handrail belt, and simplifying the saving work of an installation space, and the mounting and adjusting works. SOLUTION: The handrail driving device of the passenger conveyor has a drive roller 11 to drive a handrail belt 9 with an inner circumferential surface of the handrail belt 9 wound therearound. A plurality of press rollers 12 to press the handrail belt 9 against the drive roller 11 side are provided on an outer circumferential surface side of the handrail belt 9 wound around the drive roller 11. The plurality of press rollers 12 are connected to each other by a connection means 13. The handrail driving device of the passenger conveyor has a handrail movement detection means 20 to detect the movement of the handrail belt 9 by detecting the rotational state of the press rollers 12.
