PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper sheet sorting device for efficiently performing shift processing operation, increasing a paper sheet processing speed, and capable of responding to high-speed image formation, and a paper sheet post-processing device. SOLUTION: In a paper sheet sorting method, a plurality of paper sheets carried from an image forming apparatus A are sequentially carried, and the paper sheets S are delivered by shifting, by a predetermined number of the paper sheets S, in a direction orthogonal to a paper sheet carrying direction. A control means alternately drives and controls a drive means of a first shift unit 51 arranged upstream of the paper sheet carrying direction and a drive means of a second shift unit 52 disposed downstream of the paper sheet carrying direction to make the first shift unit 51 shift an odd-numbered paper sheet and make the second shift unit 52 shift an even-numbered paper sheet.
