<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To regenerate a catalyst and prevent the thermal deterioration of the catalyst by removing the sulfur content accumulated on the catalyst from the catalyst at comparatively low temperature. <P>SOLUTION: An active metal 14b and a NOx storage material 14c are deposited on an oxide layer 14d formed on the surface of a honeycomb carrier 14a of this catalyst 14 for cleaning exhaust gas. The NOx storage material 14c is Li and the deposition amount of the NOx storage material 14c is 0.6-10 moles per 1 liter bulk of the honeycomb carrier 14a. Furthermore, one or more metals selected from the group consisting of Ra, Ce, La, Sr, Ca and Mg of 0.01-10 moles per 1 liter bulk of the honeycomb carrier are preferably deposited as the NOx storage material. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
