<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical recording medium excellent in portability and reliability with high recording density. <P>SOLUTION: Oval metal grains 11 which are smaller than the wavelength of the laser beam for recording and reproducing are arranged in the same direction on the base 12 of an optical recording medium. When recording or reproducing, it uses a laser beam of linear polarized light parallel with the major axis of the metal grains 11 arranged on this optical recording medium and in a resonance frequency in the direction of the major axis of the metal grain 11 and a laser beam of linear polarized light parallel with the minor axis of the metal grains 11 and in a resonance frequency in the direction of the minor axis of the metal grain 11, and multiplexes recording or reproducing by concentrating the light intensity of each beam in the direction of the major axis and the minor axis of the metal grains 11. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
