PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize repeated display having high contrast by erasing discoloration generated by an electrochemical reaction by the reverse reaction or erasing the electric potential difference generated by the charging, with a simple means for applying, after the erasure of the display, a third voltage other than the display or the erasure or for applying an offset voltage instead of the voltage, which relates to a method for driving an electrodeposition type display device. SOLUTION: In the electrodeposition type display device for performing the display by the change in a coloration state by the electrochemical reaction on a transparent electrode, the first voltage for performing the display, the second voltage for erasing the display consisting of a charge amount larger than the absolute value of the charge amount by the first voltage, and the third voltage having the same polarity as the first voltage and smaller than the deposition overvoltage in the electrodeposition type display device are applied.
