PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a separation method adapted to the separation of a wide range of an optical isomer, especially an optical isomer having an acidic group. SOLUTION: In the separation method (1), the target optical isomer is separated by the collaboration of an amino acid type surfactant, an organosilane agent having a side chain interacting with the side chain of the surfactant, the optical activity of a silica base material manufactured through mixing, ageing, filtering and baking processes and at least either one of a hydrophobic mode added by a surface modifying agent, a polar mode, aπ-πinteracting mode and an ion exchange/exclusion mode. In the separation method (2), the optical isomer having the acidic group of an organic acid, an amino acid or the like is separated by the theory of liquid chromatography using the amino acid type surfactant, the organosilane agent having the side chain interacting with the side chain of the surfactant and the silica base material manufactured through the mixing, ageing, filtering and baking processes.
