PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for hot-press-forming a metallic plate, which method can perform a drawing operation and a forming operation for severe curvature, and further to provide an apparatus therefor. SOLUTION: In the method for hot-press-forming a heated metal plate by using metallic dies, at least one portion of the metal plate is cooled by means of a specific cooling means during a press forming process so as to raise the deformation resistance of the cooled portion. As a result, the portions other than the cooled portion have the deformation resistance lower than that of the cooled portion, and are elongated. As for the portions which become thinner than other portions, the portions having the low deformation resistance are successively formed so as to be elongated by repeating such an operation.
