<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow an information input device to provide the external switch function of hardware on a touch panel in a distinctive way, while securing the display area of an image display on the touch panel. <P>SOLUTION: The information input device 1 comprises a touch panel 2; an image display 6; and a sensor part 12 for sensing a touch position on the touch panel 2. In the touch panel 2, a detection region surrounded by the sensor part 12 is divided into a rectangular main region part 10 and at least one auxiliary region part 14 provided along at least one side of the main region part 10 and away from the main region part 10 and having a smaller area than the main region part 10. At the main region part 10, an image of the image display 6 is projected and the touch position is detected.
